Indonesia Visa Guide 2026

Every Indonesia visa option, explained for 2026

From a 30-day Visa on Arrival to a ten-year Golden Visa, Indonesia now offers more ways to visit, live, work and invest than ever. This guide walks you through every route so you can choose the right one with confidence.

Overview

What changed, and why this guide matters

Indonesia’s visa landscape shifted significantly in 2025: the Golden Visa programme expanded, the eVOA rolled out nationwide, and KITAS processing moved toward digital integration. The result is a wider menu of options — and a little more complexity in choosing between them. This guide covers every route available for 2026, from short tourist stays to permanent residency. As a licensed Bali visa concierge backed by Juara Holding Group, we keep all-in pricing with no hidden fees and reply within two working hours, so you never have to navigate it alone.

01

Choosing the right Indonesia visa

The right visa depends on your nationality, your purpose and how long you plan to stay. Tourist options suit stays under 60 days, KITAS serves long-term residents, workers and investors, and KITAP grants permanent residency for those married to Indonesians or holding long-term KITAS. For wealthy retirees with funds of IDR 2 billion or more, the Second Home Visa is a comfortable fit.

02

Tourist visa options — VOA & eVOA

The Visa on Arrival and its online version, the eVOA, are available to citizens of 92 eligible countries for IDR 500,000 (about USD 35). Each grants a 30-day stay that can be extended once for a further 30 days. Apply for the eVOA online at least 48 hours before arrival and you skip the airport queue entirely. See our VOA & eVOA page for details.

03

Long-stay tourist visa B211A

For trips longer than a Visa on Arrival allows, the B211A offers 60-day stays with two possible extensions. It is a single-entry visa, sponsored by an Indonesian agency, and the application typically takes 5 to 7 working days. It suits longer holidays, family visits and remote stays that do not involve local employment.

04

KITAS work & investor categories

The KITAS limited stay permit comes in several flavours: work KITAS for employed professionals, investor KITAS for shareholders in a PMA company with minimum capital of IDR 10 billion, spouse KITAS for those married to an Indonesian, retirement KITAS for over-55s with pension proof, and student KITAS for enrolled students. Each category has its own sponsor and document requirements.

05

KITAS documents & process

A KITAS application needs a passport with 18-month validity, a sponsor letter, proof of funds, biometric photos, health insurance and a police clearance. The sponsor submits the request to the Directorate General of Immigration, a telex approval is issued, you collect the stamp at the embassy, and you convert it to a KITAS card within 30 days of arrival. The full process runs 14 to 21 working days — we cover it in depth on our KITAS & KITAP page.

06

KITAP permanent stay permit

KITAP, the permanent stay permit, is available to those who have held continuous KITAS for at least three years, have been married to an Indonesian for two years, were born in Indonesia as a foreign national, or are former Indonesian citizens. It grants five years of residency and renews indefinitely, making it the natural endpoint for long-term residents who intend to stay.

07

E33G & E33F investor pathways

Introduced in 2025, the E33G is designed for investors holding IDR 30 billion or more in Indonesian assets, offering five years of multiple-entry residency. The E33F serves smaller investors and founders who can document IDR 10 billion in capital. Both are popular with entrepreneurs building a base in Indonesia — read more on our E33G pathway page.

08

Second Home Visa

The Second Home Visa is aimed at individuals with at least IDR 2 billion in Indonesian bank deposits. It is valid for five or ten years with no age restriction. Holders cannot work for an Indonesian employer, but they may operate a foreign business remotely — an ideal arrangement for financially independent residents and remote entrepreneurs.

09

Golden Visa

Launched in July 2024, the Golden Visa has two tiers: a five-year tier requiring USD 350,000 of investment and a ten-year tier requiring USD 2.5 million. Both grant unrestricted entry and exit, permission to work, and the option to convert to permanent residency after five years. It is the premium route for serious investors who want maximum flexibility.

010

Bali visa extensions

A VOA or eVOA can be extended once for an additional 30 days at any kantor imigrasi. You will need your passport, the current entry stamp, a return ticket, proof of accommodation and the IDR 500,000 fee, with processing taking 3 to 5 working days. We can handle the appointment and paperwork so you do not have to spend a day at immigration yourself.

011

Overstay penalties

Overstaying your permit currently carries a penalty of IDR 1,000,000 per day. An overstay beyond 60 days is treated far more seriously and can lead to detention, deportation and a re-entry ban. The safest approach is to track your stay carefully and arrange any extension well before your stamp expires — something we routinely manage for our clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still unsure? Message our concierge — we reply within two working hours.

Which visa is best for a holiday in Bali?

For a stay under 30 days the Visa on Arrival or eVOA is usually ideal, extendable once for a further 30 days. If you need longer, the B211A long-stay tourist visa offers 60-day stays with two possible extensions. We will recommend the most cost-effective option for your dates.

How much money do I need for a Second Home or Golden Visa?

The Second Home Visa requires at least IDR 2 billion in Indonesian bank deposits. The Golden Visa requires USD 350,000 for the five-year tier or USD 2.5 million for the ten-year tier, with both granting work permission and a path to permanent residency after five years.

What happens if I overstay my Indonesian visa?

Overstaying currently incurs a fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day. Overstaying beyond 60 days can result in detention, deportation and a re-entry ban, so it is important to extend or exit before your permit expires. We help clients track and renew their stay in good time.

Can I work in Indonesia on a tourist visa?

No. Tourist visas such as the VOA, eVOA and B211A do not permit employment. To work legally you need a work KITAS sponsored by an Indonesian company, or an investor pathway such as the E33G or Golden Visa. We can advise on the right route.

How long does each visa take to process?

An eVOA is issued within hours and must be lodged at least 48 hours before arrival; the B211A takes 5 to 7 working days; a KITAS runs 14 to 21 working days; and an extension takes 3 to 5 working days. We give you a realistic timeline for your specific case and reply within two working hours.
